More or less the same game as FF 3 DS only all the mognet/WiFi crap is removed (thank God) and you have auto-battle to help grind/level. Its development was first announced during E³ 2003, and it was officially unveiled at a Sony press conference before E³ 2004.

I would also recommend 3 for NES as well. The PSP, Steam, and mobile versions of the FF 3 3D remake are all the same. The PlayStation Portable (officially abbreviated as PSP) was a handheld game console released and manufactured by Sony Interactive Entertainment. There is an audience for it, and we're lovin' it. Square apparently realized this, otherwise this new 2D remake of 3 would have never been made. The 3D remake was always a lame attempt to show the game some love that just didn't work for anyone enjoys the ambience of 8-bit presentation mystique over shiny new graphics. The 3D version seems to add elements to a game that was meant to have the conciseness of an NES title feel as though it was meant to be in 3D, which it wasn't.Īdd to this the lack of exotic mysticism the 3D game has and it's not the same experience at all. The 2D version is complex enough for what it offers without bogging the game down with so many needless elements that only pad the game out for extra size purposes. The 5 uber weapons you unlock are for meleers and one staff.thats it. Most class will stick with sub-par gear because theres nothing available to them past mid-game. His barrage only deals more damage, like any other class that levels up.Īnd since the Legendary Smith isnt there in this version, leveling anything to 99 isnt that useful. so the whole level 20-99 is simply you getting better stats on your songs. With sufficient precautions I recommend Steam. On the other hand, Steam has the famous save-corrupting bug. You get your 4 songs (yes, 4, not 6) after level 20 I think. The Steam version doesn't lock its bonus content behind a dead wi-fi service and it has much nicer textures.

Makes the game less grindy of course, but, IMO, a bit more boring because you cant expect new skills the higher your job level gets. Even compared to the original, I think I noticed a few things that arent even there. If you directly compare to the 3D, its the simplified version. In this one, there are lots of abilities jobs wont have, lots of items not available either. Personally, I don't really mind leveling on my PC, but it still feels odd.Originally posted by Elgroscriss:Content is a big diff too.

This is only really important because grinding from your PC with keyboard commands just.feels weird, I guess.īoth are good choices. However the DS version will probably be a better playing experience aside from that due to the interfacing (If you get the steam version, you should remap the keys) and portability. In fact, since on the DS version it used Friend Codes, it might not be possible to get them at all at this point? (They're not necessary, really.) The only major differences in content I know of is the Legendary Smith, who gives final Job Weapons, and the Onion Knight class are both much easier to get in the Steam version. I played the DS version once upon a time (lost it though) and I am currently beginning a playthrough of the steam version.Īs far as I know, there are only very minor map changes, if any (The map differs very slightly in a handful of places from a walkthrough's maps, but that could be on the guidemaker).
